8. He Did It By Himself

I am sick today.  Really sick.  My sinuses are full and my neck is sore.  I have a very raw throat and my brain feels as if it will blow.  I have no energy to work on anything but getting better.  But – on the brightest side of things today, my 6 year old just took his instrument out and practiced by himself.   He did a really good job, too.  I didn’t have to ask him to, he just saw that I was too sick to do it with him and so he took care of things himself.  I had to smile when I heard the last two measures of the piece being played over and over- because in between each repetition I could hear a “swoosh-clink” of wooden beads being pushed across the metal wire of the abacus.  I counted about 20 before he stopped and figured he had it.  I guess I’ve done some things right.  I’m going to lay back down in my bed now, ahhh.
